Tony Ferguson: I’m In Khabib’s Head, I’m Going To Make Him P*** Blood

Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson. It’s been almost five years in the making. Now it’s less than five months away, from what is their fifth scheduled meeting inside the UFC Octagon.

Khabib vs Tony is set to go down at UFC 249 on April 18th, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. With four botched attempts to fight in the past, the fans will be hoping that both men stay healthy for the next four and a half months.

After Khabib defended his UFC lightweight title against Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in September, Ferguson stated that he would be ready to face Khabib in December. But instead Tony will have to wait till April. Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, ‘El Cucuy was asked why they’re not fighting sooner.

“You’re going to have to ask the UFC. Khabib is still on his world tour. He’s doing things, kissing babies and doing all that fun stuff. Who cares? You know who I am. You know I’m ready for February. I was ready to take another opponent if they were going to f***ing pull some crazy stuff. But everything worked out. We’ve got until April. We’ve got plenty of time to train. We’ve got plenty of time to not get hurt, to be very smart and trust our teams and give the fans exactly what they f***ing want.”

Asked if he plans on changing anything in the lead up to UFC 249, after their four previous attempts to fight in the past have ended with one of them pulling out, Tony responded by stating that he doesn’t change anything. But even if he did, he wouldn’t tell anyone.

“I don’t change anything. I’m always peaking. I rest good, I rest hard, I party hard, and I play hard. That’s exactly how I’ve been doing it for a very long time, and nothing’s going to change. The only things I’m going to change are for me and for my team, and nobody else is going to know.”

With Tony and Khabib both pulling out twice each ahead of their previous scheduled bouts, Ferguson hit out at anyone who thinks a fight between the two is cursed.

“I just needed this knucklehead to sign on the dotted line, so my fans can get what they want. They can get their money’s worth. So my fans that are like, ‘Oh they gotta make it to the date’. F*** you. Pay me. Buy my pay-per-view early. Save that shit, mark it down on your calendars, take a picture. I really don’t give a crap what you guys do, but there’s gonna be fireworks April 18th. I’m gonna make sure of it.

“Everybody that was like, ‘this is cursed’. F*** you. Don’t watch this s***. Don’t buy our shit. Go watch Bellator or some other bulls***. Go find some knock off copy of what we got going on here. This is the OG. I’m the original genius here. These guys right here, they wanna try and be gangster and s*** like that? Hey, you gotta answer to me, Khabib. Right here, toe to toe, motherf***er. We’re gonna go.”

He may be fighting the undefeated UFC lightweight champion in Khabib, but Ferguson believes he’s in the Dagestani’s head.

“I’m going to keep poking the bear, I’m going to make sure that Khabib shows up, that he’s going to see me before this year’s done. He’s going to understand. He’s going to go through the holidays and he’s going to be wondering about me. I’m going to be in his head again. He’s going to have a lot on his plate, and I think they got a little too arrogant with the way they handled things.

“I’m in this dude’s head. He’s looking at me. He’s going to train so hard. He’s going to be so nervous he’s going to make a mistake. I’m going to capitalise on that. I’m going to catch him during the scrambles. Like scrambled eggs, baby. I’m going to make him p*** blood. I owe him two to the chops, and he owes me twenty push ups. This guy’s got an issue, and his name is Tony Ferguson. And I’m coming after him. It’s hunting season, baby.

“I saw how he was shadow boxing the other day, he looked like shit.”

Who gets their hand raised at UFC 249, Tony Ferguson or Khabib Nurmagomedov?
