The MMA World Pays Tribute To Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov
Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov sadly passed away yesterday, following complications related to the coronavirus. Khabib’s father fell ill on April 24th in Dagestan, suffering pneumonia like symptoms. As his condition worsened, his family to sent him to a military hospital in Moscow around a week later.
Unfortunately however, Abdulmanap suffered a heart attack there and was placed in a medically induced coma to receive heart surgery. Although he came out of the coma, the 57 year old remained in critical condition.
Despite having to be placed in induced coma once more, Khabib reported just a couple of weeks ago that his father’s condition was improving and that he no longer had the coronavirus.
However, RT Sport last night reported that Abdulmanap had sadly passed, as a result of ‘irreversible brain trauma caused by a stroke’.
Abdulmanap was not only the father and mentor of Khabib, the UFC lightweight champion; but he also mentored dozens of athletes coming out of Dagestan and played a huge role in the growth of martial arts in the region. He will be surely missed in the combat sports world.
Since the sad news of his passing, the MMA community has been paying their respects to Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.
We will continue to add more tributes to Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov in the coming days, as the MMA world continues to pay their respect towards the great man.
