Ponzinibbio Says dos Anjos Is Scared To Fight Him

Argentina’s Santiago Ponzinibbio and Brazil’s Rafael dos Anjos have been going back and forth on Twitter for several months. But despite both stating in tweets that they were prepared to fight each other, Ponzinibbio believes that dos Anjos is scared to fight him. As he told MMA Fighting.

”I truly believe the fight will happen. The only way it doesn’t happen is if he turns it down. He’s saying on Twitter that he’s in, but the contract never comes. He says that on Twitter, but the truth is he doesn’t want to fight me. He’s scared.

”It makes me want to beat him up even more because he says he’s in, but then turns it down to the matchmakers. He’s running from the fight. He’s scared. That pisses me off because he says something, but acts differently.

”Let’s see if he really wants to fight me or if he’s just talk. If he agrees to another fight, it’s pretty clear he’s scared to fight me.”

Ponzinibbio has won his last seven fights and is coming off of an impressive win over Neil Magny. While dos Anjos is coming off losing back to back fights against Colby Covington and Kamaru Usman.

With big 170lbs match ups already announced in 2019, in Tyron Woodley vs Usman, Darren Till vs Jorge Masvidal, Leon Edwards vs Gunnar Nelson and Stephen Thompson vs Anthony Pettis, we think it’s about time the UFC made this match up between the two South American welterweights.
