Mite Yine Is Out To Prove He’s Still The Best In The World

In last month’s main event at WLC: KAREN SPIRIT, Mite Yine beat Cambodia’s Morn Samet, via a razor close split decision. It was the first time that the World Lethwei Championship (WLC) had held an event in Kayin State, which is Yine’s home state in Myanmar.

Yine is now recuperating in his home village in Kayin State, ahead of WLC’s biggest event to date, WLC: KING OF NINE LIMBS. Which goes down on August 2nd and will see nine international fighters star on the most stacked lethwei card ever.

Ahead of WLC: KING OF NINE LIMBS, Yine told us how he prepared for his fight with Samet at WLC: KAREN SPIRIT.

“I stayed active fighting at a few smaller events, using those opportunity to finetune my skills. I knew my chance at redemption in World Lethwei Championship was coming so I worked hard, especially on improving my cardio and my footwork.”

And thanks to that hard work, along with the ability to stay calm and patience, and by also having some fun in the ring, Yine did enough on the night to get the decision win.

“I knew he was a tough opponent that I respected. We had a five round fight and I had to keep calm if I wanted to win that fight so I fought with patience while having fun at the same time and got the result that I wanted.”

At WLC: KING OF NINE LIMBS, the 29 year old will be the biggest Myanmar star on the stacked card. And with so many big names fighting on the card, Yine says it just goes to show how far lethwei has come since the WLC come on the scene.

“It shows how far lethwei has grown since World Lethwei Championship started that we will now have a card featuring nine international fighters at the top of the card. It challenges us Myanmar lethwei fighters to continue to prove that we are the best and not just think that it will always be easy.

“The whole industry has improved for the better and I want to prove that I am still the best even with the best fighters in the world coming in. I will fly the Myanmar flag up high on August 2nd at WLC: KING OF NINE LIMBS!”

WLC: KING OF NINE LIMBS takes place on August 2nd in Mandalar Thiri Indoor Stadium, Mandalay, Myanmar. The event will be broadcast LIVE on Canal+ in Myanmar and on UFC Fight Pass.
