Max Holloway Would Love To Box Floyd Mayweather

Never has there been so much talk of crossing over between MMA and boxing as in recent months. Tyson Fury teasing of a switch to MMA and Jorge Masvidal calling out Floyd Mayweather and before that, Canelo Alvarez, just to name a few examples. Now Max Holloway has joined the conversation.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway was asked if he’d love to box Floyd Mayweather.

“We’ll see what happens. First thing’s first, I got a big, important fight [against Alex Volkanovski at UFC 245]. But I would love to do that. He’s one of the best guys ever to do that. And to share the boxing ring with him, it would be on the checklist thing for sure.”

Holloway went on to say that he’s always wanted to test his boxing skills and would love to compete in Zuffa Boxing, when the UFC finally launch it.

“I love kickboxing, I started kickboxing. If you talk to a lot of MMA fighters, or MMA people, people that watch my fights, they probably going to tell me that I’m more of a boxer than anything anyway. So I always wanted to box. We’ll see what happens but I respect the sport.

“I would love to do Zuffa Boxing”

Since losing to Conor McGregor in 2013, Holloway has won all fourteen fights he’s had at featherweight inside the Octagon. Eight of those fourteen wins came by way of KO or TKO. His only loss in that time came against Dustin Poirier this past April, fighting for the UFC interim lightweight title at UFC 236.

‘Blessed’ is set to defend his featherweight title against Volkanovski this weekend, in the co-main event at UFC 245. Which goes down at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Both Mayweather and Dana White have recently said that they have made big plans together, for the end of 2020. This has resulted in lots of speculation that ‘Money’ is set to box another UFC fighter, after he previously fought Conor McGregor in 2017.

Do you think we could see Max Holloway vs Floyd Mayweather fight inside a boxing ring in 2020?
