Jorge Masvidal: Of Course I’d Fight McGregor Over These Other Bums’
Jorge Masvidal fights Nate Diaz for the Baddest Mother F***er title this weekend at UFC 244. But not content with facing one ‘huge dog’, in the younger Diaz brother, ‘Gamebred’ has an eye on facing another ‘hell of a fighter’, in Conor McGregor.
Speaking to the media ahead of UFC 244 (as transcribed by The Mac Life), Masvidal was asked about whether he would be interested in defending the BMF title against McGregor. And the 34 year old said it would be a ‘no-brainer’ to accept a fight with the former UFC two division champion.
“Conor’s done amazing things in this sport, and I always give – not always – but I try to give credit where credit is due. He’s got two belts, he’s got the fastest knockout with the title, he’s done a lot of great things, you know,” Masvidal said. “But as of late, he hasn’t competed in a while. I’m just hearing things; I’m not seeing. If he comes back and fights, fights whoever he fights and wins, and wants to fight me, of course I’m going to fight that guy over everybody just like I’m going to fight Nate, because Nate’s a huge dog.
“Conor’s the same. He’s a fighter. He might not be the toughest guy, but he’s a hell of a fighter, and he brings in millions of dollars, so of course I’m going to fight that guy over all these other bums. It’s a no-brainer, man. But is he fighting? I don’t know.”
McGregor is expected to return at UFC 246 against ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone. While Masvidal faces Nate Diaz in the UFC 244 main event this weekend, at Madison Square Garden, New York.
