Jon Jones Arrested, This Is How The MMA World Reacted To The News

* Updated on April 1st with Jon Jones’ plea agreement and full statement

If you’re waking up in Asia right now, you’re probably learning that Jon Jones has been arrested again. The UFC light heavyweight champion was arrested at 12.58am on Thursday in New Mexico for alleged aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and negligent use of a firearm.

According to the criminal complaint first reported by KOAT in Albuquerque, officers responded to a single gunshot, where they found Jones in the driver’s seat of his black Jeep. There was also another person outside the vehicle by the passenger-side door.

Jones claimed he didn’t know anything about the gunshot fired. The officers noticed there were signs that he was intoxicated. After performing poorly on a sobriety test, Jones took a breathalyser test, which showed he was over twice the legal limit.

After Jones was arrested, his Jeep was towed away and when searched, a black handgun was found underneath the driver’s seat, along with a half empty bottle of Recuerdo Mezcal (the tequila like liquor owned by Jorge Masvidal) behind the passenger’s seat.

A spent round was also found outside the driver side door of the Jeep, which was reported to match the caliber of the gun.
