Joanna Jedrzejczyk Wants Kamaru Usman To Beat ATT Teammate Colby Covington

It has been a big week for Joanna Jedrzejczyk and the American Top Team. The former UFC strawweight champion got back to winning ways with a win over “Karate Hottie” Michelle Waterson, and will next face the strawweight champion if Dana White is to be believed. Her ATT teammate Colby Covington will face Kamaru Usman for the UFC welterweight title at UFC 245, and while you’d expect teammates to have each other’s backs, Colby doesn’t have many friends at ATT.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk isn’t alone either. Jorge Masvidal and Dustin Poirier are just two among a plethora of American Top Team fighters who aren’t big fans of Covington and his character. More recently, Joanna spoke with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, and said that she hoped Kamaru Usman would ‘beat his a**’ at UFC 245.

“I wish Usman beats his ass. I shouldn’t say this, because you always should support people, but Colby is acting weird, you know”, Joanna Jedrzejczyk told ESPN (transcript via The Mac Life). “He’s an ugly guy. Never talk bad about your teammates. Doesn’t matter if you like them or not.

“Of course I do not like [the way he talks]”, she continued. “You should respect each other. American Top Team, we have more and more fighters coming from all over the world. Training really hard, we support each other, Colby should respect the rules and he’s not. He’s acting like he’s Conor McGregor, trying to show in videos people open the door for him, he’s driving fancy cars. It isn’t true guys, it isn’t true.

“He’s hard worker. He’s the champ, but no. I don’t get it. I don’t buy it.”

Joanna Jedrzejczyk will likely face Weili Zhang next for the strawweight title.
