Edward Kelly: Fans Can Expect Better Performances From Me In 2020

There comes a time in every athlete’s life when they have to call time on their career. And that time is getting closer for Edward Kelly. Before he does hang up his gloves however, ‘The Ferocious’ wants to make sure that he walks away from the sport with no regrets.

“When I celebrated my birthday earlier this year, I realised that I’m near the age of retirement. My body is in great condition but it can not take damage from my fellow athletes for a longer period of time.

“I will do my best in every performance and have a stronger conviction to win in each one. When I retire, I don’t want to have any regrets.”

Kelly will go into the new year with his record standing at 12-8, having gone 1-3 in 2019. Most recently losing a unanimous decision to Tai Kang at ONE: Age Of Dragons. And while the 35 year old has scored nine finishes in his twelve victories, he acknowledges that there are still parts of his game that need improving.

“My wrestling and ground game needs more work,” Kelly said. “We have been hiring experts for training sessions so in between those, I need to work hard on my own.”

With the hard work Edward Kelly promises, the Team Lakay stalwart says fans can expect better performances from him in 2020.

“Expect a more explosive, aggressive, and smarter version of myself in 2020. I will no longer hesitate inside the ring. I want to give my supporters and supporters of ONE Championship a great show, so always expect a better performance from me.”
